2009 Common Prayer of the North and the South for Peace and Reunification
God of providence who takes care of all creation!
We thank you for having liberated our nation from Japanese occupation 64 years ago, having opened a way of dialogue and reconciliation in the midst of national division and suffering of Korean war, and for calling us, Christians, to gather together to pray for peace and cooperation.
Hatred and mistrust to each other, however, have been remaining and the barrier of division and antagonism between North and South Korea are still continuing.
It is because of our greed and egoistic mind..
Forgive us by the grace of Lord on the cross, and allow us to be a nation of understanding and cooperation.
God who opens a new history!
Even though we have suffered for last 64 years with the national division and have still many difficulties, we pray that you help with your strong arms our nation to implement June 15(2000) Statement as well as October 4th Joint Statement(2006) by the two national summits and to achieve peace and reunification on the Korean peninsula by our own efforts.
We pray that you turn tears of separated people to tears of a joy and deep gratitude.
And we pray that you guide us workers of reunification with our gifts from God.
God who makes Christ as the head of the church!
You call Christians of the North and the South as the salt and light of the world. Lead us act and live with the Love of Christ and with his good news.
Guide us as churches of the North and the South not to ignore the reality of national suffering due to national division, and to work together for peace and reunification on the Koran peninsula.
Lead Christians of the North and the South to open their mind, and to understand the other first, and to share love.
We pray for no more division and war on the Korean peninsula and for the land of blessing which achieves the peace of new heaven and new earth.
Confessing that there must be a plan for peace and reunification on the Korean peninsula in your Providence which covers all the history, we pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
